Things were so busy last week that our newsletter was neglected.  Happy last week of school.  It has been a wonderful school year.  Thanks for all of your hard work during the course of this year.  It is wonderful to be at East.

I received a phone call this morning.  Mrs. Bentley made it official that she will be retiring at the end of this year.  I mentioned to her that it was good thing for her, but not such a good thing to us.  I’m sure I am not alone in saying that I will definitely miss her next year.  We will be adding her to our, “4 People Retirement Extravaganza”, on Wednesday.

Please remember that on the last day of school to please come visit with me for a short exit interview.

Have a fantastic week.

We are now under 1,000,000 seconds left in the school year.  It always amazes me to see how fast each school year seems to pass by.
I am planning on passing out your checkout sheets and an exit interview schedule during our faculty meeting Wednesday.  During faculty meeting we will also go over a few items that relate to the closing out of the school year and have breakfast.  We shouldn’t be too long.
I am currently putting next year’s classes together.  I am hoping to have them ready next week so you can look over them.  I don’t want the students to have access until the last day of school.
Along with checkout information, if you would please take time to have your students stack your desks and chairs in the hall on the last day of school.  It will save our custodians an enormous amount of time that could be better used to prepare the rooms for next year.  We just need to leave enough room to pass through the hallway.

I want to offer a special welcome to Jeff Stucky and Kathy Rice who will begin this week.  We are excited to have both of them in our building beginning this week.  I also wanted to welcome Becky Iler to our staff.  She will be our Speech Specialist.  Becky Jones will continue with us and Becky Iyler will be the specialist that will be shared with CMS.  I want to extend a special thanks to Robert and Curtis for doing so much for us and wish them the best of luck in their new assignments.

Have a fantastic week!

We just completed the first full week of May, as well as, the first full week of testing.  Thank you so much for preparing your students for the testing.  I wish we could do more regarding the technical issues associated with the testing, but we are documenting each issue in case we need to appeal any of the testing results.

A little information to help as you plan your summer:
Aug. 12-13 – RTI Days
Aug. 16 – Dist. Opening Institute
Aug. 17 – Back to School Night
Aug. 17-18 – Contract prep days
Aug. 19 – First day for students

Have a wonderful weekend!

21 days, 21 hour, 57 minutes, and 1,807,022 seconds left until the school year ends.  I will have to admit that it frightens me because I have so much more to do before then.  I know some of you feel the same with your students where there is never enough time to cover it all.  Time left in the school year may take on a whole different meaning for Mrs. Turek and Mr. Pack who are on the retirement circuit.

Please remember that faculty meeting has been changed to Thursday.  The District will be here to provide rewards for “Walk the Walk” and discuss insurance.  The PTA has kindly volunteered to provide breakfast for us (YUM YUM).

Thank you so much for all you do.  It is because of what you do that East Elementary has such a good reputation in the community.

I almost forgot about the movie reward tickets for you students who work hard on their CRTs.  K-1st grades who don’t have the incredible experience of giving CRTs, your students can also earn tickets for good performance in your classes.

Have a wonderful week.

It is hard to believe that this is the last week of April.  Thanks for all of your hard work this month.  I know how busy it is this time of year and the extensive amount of time it takes to prepare students for CRTs.   I hope that all of grades 3-5 have had the chance to practice the on-line testing with Mr. Wallace and Mrs. Hall.  Thanks for taking time to review and prepare your students for the upcoming tests.  We will have a movie reward like we did last year.  We haven’t decided what the movie will be, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Have a fantastic week!
