Why is East Elementary a great place to be?
Extensive reading interventions for struggling readers.
¬	Students below grade level are identified and then targeted to receive very intensive small group or one-on-one reading interventions.  Students are constantly monitored and plans adjust according to student needs.

Before and after school tutoring
¬	Students that need a little extra boost to reach grade level are referred to our before and after school tutoring program.

Special Education Services for students with disabilities
¬	We have access to resources, such as, school psychologist, therapists, counselors, and Special Education teachers.  This also includes adaptive devices necessary for students with physical and mental impairments.

ESL services for those learning English

PE, Music, and Orchestra classes 
¬	Students have the opportunity of attending music, PE, and Orchestra classes twice a week.

Title One School status:  Because of the demographic make-up of our school, we are classified as a Title One School.  Because of this classification we have the opportunity of receiving additional funds.  How are these funds used?
¬	Reading interventionists – Small group or one-on-one reading intervention using Next Steps and Early Steps.
¬	Additional supplies that support reading and math curriculum.
¬	Staff training to maintain a cutting edge on the latest research and teaching techniques available.
